German WWII Waffen SS Albanian Volunteer’s Sleeve Shield-Excellent machine embroidered example. It is very clean and vibrant. As with other foreign volunteer units the Germans designed and produced a national sleeve shield for the divisional personnel. This double headed eagle design is based on the ancient Byzantine Empire flag that had been carried by the traditional Albanian national hero, George Castoria who was also known as Iskander Beg, or Skanderbeg. This is one of the more striking volunteer patches out there. This patch would have been worn by members of the 21st Waffen Mountain Division of the SS "Skanderbeg". This shield is slightly stiff, but has beautiful colors and is in excellent condition.
