Japanese Swiss Made Navy Torpedo Stopwatch-This is a Swiss made stopwatch that would have been used in the Japanese Navy. It is inscribed on the reverse, but we are unable to translate it.  This is the classic design for Torpedo timing and used in U-Boats and E-Boats in the North Atlantic. This works. The fluted knob on the top controls everything. You wind it up and when you push it in once the single seconds hand starts moving immediately. On the second push, the second-hand freezes at the time elapsed position. On the third push the timer resets itself to zero ready for the next run. There is a small crack in the face of the watch, seen on the right side at the 3 o'clock position and moving vertically up to the 1 o'clock position. This comes in an original case; it is marked on the front with Kanji (that we can’t translate) and 87-83 9/10 No. 17 written on the front in orange paint. The case is maker marked in Kanji under the lid. We believe it’s a dedication to the Shinkyo Bridge, which is a sacred bridge in Japan. The kanji is hard for us to translate. This case is lined in white silk, with the bottom lined in black velvet. The case is in very good condition and shows only light wear. This is a great offering.
