Rare German WWII Infantry Assault Badge in Silver-This is an interesting variant. If you look at the photos to see the maker’s mark, you will see that the Frank & Reif Stuttgart” mark under the hinge is missing the “r” in Frank. This was because it was misspelled on the die. Please see pages 104 & 105 of The Infantry Assault Badges by Sascha Weber. This is a semi hollow example made of zinc. The silver finish is missing except for what remains in the lowest details. The details are quite strong, and the zinc has a nice gun metal gray color to it. The hinge, pin and catch setup function perfectly. This is considered a very rare find, especially in this condition.
