Salty Early Organization Book of the NSDAP (Organisationsbuch der NSDAP)-This book is always popular when we get a chance to offer one. This red hardcover book is one of the most important books published during the Third Reich. Written by the infamous Dr. Robert Ley, it contains illustrated information about the membership, political leadership, uniforms, symbols, insignia, service requirements, flags, standards, daggers, swords, and other equipment of the many paramilitary units that made up the NSDAP Party. It was published in 1938 by the Reich organizer of the NSDAP. This 592-page book opens with a Hitler portrait frontispiece facing the title page. There is a full index followed by a foreword by Adolf Hitler, a few words by Rudolf Hess and an introduction by Reichs Organizations Leader Dr. Robert Ley. The SA, SS, HJ, NSKK, RAD, etc., is dissected and explained so that anyone who had the need could understand all the specifics of how it was organized, the uniforms its members wore, and the requirements and responsibilities of membership in it. These pages contains both black and white and color illustrations. Written in German, this book was commonly confiscated and destroyed by the Allies; very few of these remain, and very few in good condition. This book has some liabilities. It is good but has a hole through the linen cover on the spine. There are several tears, almost as if something got dropped on the book from the top, and several pages were torn. I’m going to guestimate that approx. 200 of the pages have this tear at the top of the page. It does not affect the text, as the pages are readable, but if you like minty items, this is not for you. This book is well used, and is in rough shape, but is still an excellent reference.
