Tailor Made, Private Purchase US WWII 8th Air Force Captain “Ike” Jacket-This is a very fancy jacket! Clearly the owner would have been proud to own and wear this fine piece. It is produced in an extremely soft green wool. There are a significant number of moth bites and nips plus some other wear. It is still very clean. There are gold tresse stripes at each cuff. There is a three button closure and a pair of pleated pockets with scalloped flaps. The left sleeve has a machine embroidered 8th Air Force unit patch plus 3 gold tresse stripes for 18 months overseas service. There are metal captains bars on each shoulder. There are gilt metal US collar pins plus pins in gilt and silver for aviation branch. There are wings in metal over a blue badge cloth backing. These are for a pilot. There is a four ribbon set with the following badges represented: Air Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, American Campaign medal, EAME Medal with Four Campaign Stars and a Victory Medal. The interior is fully lined in gold rayon. There is minor wear and a few stains. There are vertical pockets on each side. There is a small paper tag with the number 215 pinned to the neck area. It is a size medium. It’s a special one despite condition!
