US M1 Garand 1942 Bayonet-This US bayonet is a spectacular looking example. The steel pommel and crossguard have toned to a dark gray color. The black plastic grip plates are in very good condition. The rivet appears to be untouched. The plastic sheath has the early desirable victory logo with US markings inside flaming bomb. The overall condition including the blade is excellent with desirable markings. It is marked O.L. U.O.S and dated 1942. There is a maker marked on the reverse of the blade, under the crossguard that looks to be worn away. The locking mechanism functions perfectly. The M1942 bayonet was created in response to the US entering World War II in 1941. It was used on the Pacific front, where American soldiers fought Japanese soldiers with longer bayonets. This is a great offering.
