US Vietnam Vintage Boon or Slouch Duck Hunter Camo Hat-This style of hat was not standard Military issue, but was theater made, or locally made in Vietnam. This style became popular with USGIs, specifically NCOs, who spent time in the wet hot conditions of Vietnam during the war. The VIET-NAM patch rocker is an original Vietnamese produced example. The United States Military did not issue the now popular “Boonie Hat” until approximately 1967, many U.S. personnel acquired their own through local Vietnamese Tailor shops or street vendors. This example is in near excellent condition. It is constructed in the classic “Duck Hunter” spot camouflage material. Each side of the brim is turned up with one side being secured with a brown snap. The interior features a sweatband made of brown vinyl. The inside is unlined. The cap is roughly a size 7 and displays beautifully! It shows only light wear, though there is a spot of light discoloration top left, so please see photos. This does blend into the camouflage fairly well though. Overall, this is near excellent.
