Veteran Bring Back German WWII Iron Cross 1939 2nd Class-This is a sound example. The black finish on the iron core remains mostly in place, you can see that there is some slight bubbling under this paint, near the edges. The silver frame is nicely toned. This has a long portion of ribbon, that is age toned but still has bright colors. We were lucky enough to buy this badge from the son of a US veteran. We will supply the name of this soldier to the buyer, along with a few anecdotes we were lucky enough to get from his son.

History: The German Iron Cross of 1939, awarded during World War II, was a reintroduction of the historic Prussian Iron Cross by Adolf Hitler at the start of the conflict, featuring a swastika in the center and a ribbon incorporating the colors of the TR regime (black, white, and red) instead of the traditional Prussian black and white stripes. This medal was essentially a way to continue the tradition of military valor recognition while aligning it with the new ideology.
