Veteran Bring Back German WWII Panzer Assault Badge in Silver-This would make a nice tank assault badge for a new collector. It is made of zinc. It has lost all of its original silver finish. The remaining zinc has toned to a dark gray color. The details of this badge are excellent, there is some very light white rust just at the base of the grass, but this is hardly worth mentioning. The catch of this badge has been repaired. You can see the repair in the photos. Someone did a very good job with their soldering. The pin setup does work as intended. This is actually a handsome badge. It was brought home by a US veteran, and we will be sure to supply the name of this soldier to the buyer. It makes this badge even more special.  Priced to sell.

History: The German tank badge was instituted by an order from Colonel-General von Brauchitsch in December of 1939. Designed by the well-known artist Ernst Peekhaus, the production of the badge was given initially to the firm C.E. Juncker. But as the war progressed and many other German awards were produced, manufacture was distributed to other firms as well. The award was open to all Panzer officers, NCOs and other ranks, who had been engaged in at least three assaults on three separate occasions. The bronze version extended the award to other affiliated units such as Panzer grenadiers, armored car personnel, medical and signals units.
