Veteran Bring Back German WWII Short Model Clamshell Police Bayonet by E&F Hörster-Beautiful example with all of the characteristics associated with a police bayonet used from the Weimar period through to the Third Reich. The nickel fittings are excellent with strong details and a finish that is intact with great tone. The stag handle grips are excellent, though the police insignia is missing from the grip. Below the crossguard is a clamshell embellished with a large Imperial eagle. The brown felt buffer is in place under the crossguard. The leather covered scabbard shows some scuffing but is overall in good condition. The nickel silver fittings are also very good and retain the majority of their silver finish. The ball at the tip of the scabbard remains undented. The blade is very good overall. You can see the E&F Hörster logo on the obverse, and the name on the reverse just below the crossguard. This was brought home by a US veteran; we will supply the name of the soldier to the buyer. Despite the grip eagle missing, this bayonet is in very good condition and quite desirable.
