WWII German Army Model 1940 Single Decal Helmet with Battle Damage-This combat helmet has two holes in the back, unquestionably bullet holes, that came from the inside out so hopefully it was not being worn! It has a dark field grey finish that remains 50% intact. The left side has a darkly toned army eagle decal that is 60% intact. The interior features a size 55 leather liner that has moderate discoloration, minor wear and some scuffing at the front. There is a partial drawstring that is torn. There is a zinc liner band that is maker marked, dated 1941 and size stamped 62/55. The side of the interior is stamped SE 62 indicating production by Sachsische Emaillerwerke in the size of 62. The rear skirt is stamped with the lor number 597 indicating production some time in 1941. There is a name scratched into the finish on the right side of the interior. It is hard to read but someone can figure it out. A sound and interesting example overall!
