WWII German Army or Waffen SS Campaign Shield for Demjansk (Tunic Removed)-Demjansk, a small town between Novgorod and Velikie Luki, was an important area from a defensive standpoint during the winter 1941/1942 retreat, and participation in this campaign lead to the creation of this award. It is the biggest (in size) of all the campaign decorations. The light metal plate shows great detail. There is only slight spots of discoloration. The reverse has the majority of its original paper backing but it is loose from the back. The field gray wool backing is in stiff but very good condition. This is the one of the tougher campaign shields to find. A very collectible example!
