WWII German Army Wehrpaß-This was issued to J. Thieler on 30 June 1938. There is a photo riveted to the second page. He was born on 16 September 1918 in Weisbach. When this was issued, he joined the 2./Inf. Ers. Btl. 101 or the 2nd Company of Infanterie-Ersatz-Bataillon 101 (Infantry Replacement Battalion 101). It was a German Army training and replacement unit formed in August 1939 in Leisnig, Saxony. Its primary mission was to train recruits and supply replacements for frontline divisions. There are a couple of reassignments with him ending up in the 185th Infantry regiment in 1939. He fought, most likely in the cleanup after they took over France. He was killed we believe in France, in July of 1940. This book has several entries. This one is definitely as candidate for a nice research project!
