WWII German Coastal Artillery Side Cap-This is a very nice example, produced in field grey wool that is in near excellent condition overall. There is some minor wear and discoloration only. Interestingly, this cap was resized during the period. You can clearly see at the back where a section of material was added to the entire cap to make it two sizes bigger. This is expertly done. The front of the cap has machine woven (BeVo) insignia that includes a gold over green eagle and a red, black and white cockade over green as well. Each is hand applied to the front of the cap. The interior is fully lined in a field grey heavy cotton. That is, except, for the added on section white is grey rayon. It is well marked , with the Munich based distributor info, the date 1941 and original size 55 over stamped with the new size, 57. This is a great example!
