WWII German Luftwaffe Model 1938 Camouflage Helmet-This example has an olive drab camouflage finish that remains 85% intact. This is a Mediterranean finish like what would have been used on Crete. You can clearly see the Luftwaffe decal under the finish on the left side. This has a scarce, unmarked liner which indicates it was produced between February of 1941 and June 22, 1941, just in time for Crete. It is tan leather and remains soft and supple. There is very minor wear and discoloration only. There is an aluminum liner band and all of the 7 charcoal liner buffer pads are present. They are very stiff as to be expected. The leather harness is in exceptional condition. It is very soft and most of the soft chamois underlining is intact. The side of the interior is stamped ET 66 indicating production by Eisenhuttenwerke of Thale in the size of 66. The rear skirt is stamped with the lot number 1744 indicating 1942 production. Excellent and desirable!
