WWII German Luftwaffe Model 1940 Single Decal Camouflage Helmet-This combat example has a worn and faded green camouflage finish that extends into the interior skirt. It was originally a rough texture; some of that is still evident around the brim. The remnants of the Luft decal are evident in the outline that is seen. Inside is a size 57 leather liner that was treated by the Gi that brought it home. Most likely he used Vaseline or something similar and this has preserved the softness (it’s a little stiff) of the liner but has darkened it significantly. There is a zinc liner band and a drawstring. The left side of the interior is stamped hkp 64 indicating production by Sachsische Emaillerwerke in the size of 64. The rear skirt is stamped with the lot number 890. There is a brown leather chinstrap as well. It was also treated at some point. A sound example!
