WWII German Luftwaffe Model 1940 Single Decal Combat Helmet-This example has a rough texture, blue grey finish that remains 75% intact overall. The left side has a Luftwaffe decal that checks in at about 80% intact. Inside is a tan leather, size stamped 60 liner that is in near excellent condition, with just minor wear, minor scuffing and minor discoloration from use. The soldier wrote his name and rank onto the liner, Obgrf Raimer. There is a drawstring and a zinc liner band. The side of the interior is stamped ET 68 indicating production by Eisenhuttenwerke of Thale in the size of 68. The rear skirt is stamped with the lot number 5001 indicating production sometime in 1940. There is an original brown leather chin strap that is worn and a bit fragile. We added some tape to an area that was very fragile to keep it from getting any worse. It appears that this chinstrap was painted tan at some point, some of that finish remains visible. A solid, textbook example!
