WWII German Wooden 13MM MG131 Ammo Box Used as “Send Home” Box-This is a very cool item. This is a hand crafted wooden ammo box that was used to bring 13mm ammunition to the front. A US GI has repurposed it as a trunk to send home his souvenirs. This box is painted in faded black paint. It is not only nicely marked inside and out, but the GI has also put his address in two locations on the box. He shipped this box from the APO ( Pacific theater) to a family member in New Jersey. The inside of the box, under the lid, shows partial labels with warnings about the ammo inside. The box has ropes on each side which are to be used as handles. This box is in very good condition, and could make a fun research project. This box is oversized, it measures 20 inches (50.8 cm) long, 10 inches (25.4 cm) wide, and 9 inches (22.86cm) deep. It weighs 16 pounds (7.25kg) empty, so it’s a hefty case. This also means that this will require extra shipping.
