WWII Japanese Soldiers Farewell Banner-I don’t often encounter these; this is a Japanese "Off to War" or “Good Luck” banner used to greet infantry units as they move off to war. Very elaborate. This has hand painted black kanji that we have not translated, under a leaf motif with a bright red sun. This is printed onto a textured silk like material. The banner measures approx. 26 ½ inches (67.31cm) wide, and 163 inches (414.02cm) long. (13 ½ feet or 4.11m). Since we can’t read Kanji, we are unsure of the translation, it would be interesting to find out. The edges of the banner are finished, and the hoist end of this banner is reinforced to hold a dowel or lanyard. There is a decorative fringe at the bottom edge. The colors are gorgeous on this historic banner. This is a beautiful good luck banner.
