German WWII Signed Photo of Knights Cross Winner Hermann Siggel-Siggel was the commander of Grenadier Regiment 172. The Knights Cross recommendation of Oberleutnant Siggel lists 13 actions that led to his award of the Knights Cross. For example, leading a counterattack with his troops while serving as a rearguard during the retreat from Voronezh to Ssumy. This took place near Golowischka in 1943. Commanding an alarm unit on the railway embankment Nish-Syrowatka, and leading a retreat battle East of Kiev. There are many more encounters that are worth looking up. This photo measures 5 ½ inches tall and 3 ¾ inches wide. It is in very good condition. The signature can be seen on the lower right corner. There is a small note written on the lower portion of the reverse. This would be a fun project to research more on this guy.
